Last night's unveiling at the SWELL Smalls Art Gallery brought together a collection of unique pieces, each with its own story to share. Among them, our sculpture "With the Tide" found its place—a sincere tribute to the captivating landscapes of Currumbin.
Inspired by cherished moments along Currumbin's beach and creek, "With the Tide" seeks to capture the simple pleasures found in Australia's coastal wonders. Crafted with care, its form of 88 hexagonal cells follows the natural contours of the land, echoing the gentle curves of Currumbin Creek as it merges with the ocean.
As viewers engage with "With the Tide," they're encouraged to reflect on sunlit days spent exploring the shore, uncovering the ocean's treasures nestled among warm golden sands. The subtle emergence of coral-like shell forms from the sculpture's surface evokes these cherished memories of discovery.
"While 'With the Tide'" may be a small part of the gallery's offerings, it carries within it a deep reverence for the beauty of our coastline. We invite you to experience its gentle charm at the SWELL Smalls Art Gallery until March 17th. And if you find it resonates with you, please consider casting your vote for the People's Choice Prize, supporting not just our work, but the entire community of talented local artists.
