Tide Pool's Creators

Following a fortuitous social-sport driven encounter in 2012, when Andrew was studying architecture and Suzy fine arts, we swiftly bonded over our shared love of nature, design and discovery – becoming an inseparable creative duo within weeks. Enticed by a profession that encapsulates the merging of artistic creativity with the logic of complex problem-solving, Suzy soon joined the architectural path, and in 2022 we united life and practice by founding emerging firm Costa Syme Architects.

Out of the unification of art and architecture a new-found passion emerged, harnessing the extraordinary potential of algorithmic modelling to conceive and ‘grow’ 3D printed sculptures inspired by natural wonders such as Australia’s stunning coral reefs. Conscious of the wellbeing benefits of biophilic design and the sheer joy we’ve discovered being surrounded by the beautiful nature-inspired sculptures we’d crafted over the years, we wanted to bring our creations to a public platform capable of sharing this joy and enriching the lives of others, while provoking conversations on the importance of preserving the natural world.

Always keen to take the opportunity to share the joys of our nature-inspired creations, in 2023 we tied the knot under a 3D printed coral-inspired arbour and reside happily engulfed by our many Tide Pool prototypes.
